Ice Rowing Machine

This machine was the result of me being asked to join some friends for ice skating, but being Australian I have very little talent in that area, so decided to try something differnt.

After not being able to find any plans for such a machine on the internet i decided to build one from scratch. As i had an old chainsaw blade lying around I decided to use it as the driving mechanism, maybe not the best in hindsight.

Steering was done with the pedals and the chainsaw blade was forced down onto the ice when tension was applied to the hand bar. If i get time this winter i will redo the "skates" as there was way to much friction there.
